Rachael Cowan (nee McMillan)

Rachael Cowan (nee McMillan) is a physiotherapist and Anatomy demonstrator, undertaking a PhD at La Trobe University. Her research area of interest is gluteal tendons and muscles, with one research project being undertaken in partnership with the Australian Ballet. Rachael is also a physiotherapist with the Australian Women’s National Football Teams; her primary service is to the Young Matildas.
Rachael was a physiotherapist for Scottish Premiership football club Heart of Midlothian F.C. Academy (U17) and served as head physiotherapist for the Senior Women at Box Hill United Soccer Club in the WNPL from 2015 – 2017. In addition, Rachael was a member of the medical team covering the NBA Basketball Without Borders event held in June 2016.
Rachael is a sessional academic demonstrating Anatomy to physiotherapy students at La Trobe University and The University of Melbourne. Rachael is trained in Clinical Pilates and has a special interest in tendons and lower limb injuries. With a personal background in dance and years competing at national level sport, Rachael appreciates and understands the importance of managing performers and athletes across all levels.
