Multiple sclerosis (MS) occurs when the immune system attacks the central nervous system, unfortunately we don't totally know how this happens. While MS is complex, it tends to take one of three clinical courses:

  1. Relapsing-Remitting (most common)
  2. Secondary Progressive
  3. Primary Progressive

People living with multiple sclerosis can maintain a healthy lifestyle by recognising their MS symptoms, listening to their body and learning what interventions work best for them.

Regular exercise is important for cardiovascular health, improving strength and endurance, help relieve MS related fatigue, manage spasticity and stabilizing mood.

Our Exercise Physiologists have undertaken a Multiple Sclerosis up skilling course with Menzies Institute for Medical Research (University of Tasmania) in partnership with Multiple Sclerosis Limited, and in collaboration with the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre.

It allowed our Exercise Physiologists to increase their knowledge of MS-related issues and those in the MS Community will be empowered to create and contribute to personalised MS management plans.

With a specific guided exercise program, we can help you develop muscle and bone health, and help avoid secondary complications.

If you'd like to book an appointment with one of our please call our clinic on 9783 9990 or book online.
