Fatigue Syndromes

What causes Fatigue?

Fatigue or low energy can be caused by a number of physical and psychology factors.  Our bodies contain millions of energy making cells called ‘mitochondria’.  These cells can be affected by the following:
  • Sleep problems
  • Low blood sugar
  • Low thyroid function
  • Chronic pain /Inflammation
  • Food allergies
  • Nutrient deficiencies (eg. low iron, magnesium, b vitamins)
  • Lowered immune function
  • Lowered liver function
  • Stress / Low adrenal function
  • Depression / Low mood
  • Chronic fatigue syndrome
  • Cancer
  • Lung / Heart disease
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
  • Medication

Suggestions for increasing energy

  • Eat lots of fresh fruit & vegetables
  • Choose wholegrain foods over highly processed foods (eg. sugar, lollies, white bread)
  • Be in bed by 10pm
  • Minimise alcohol intake
  • Take each day at a time...you have the rest of your life to live!

Professional treatment plan

  1. Improve the body’s ability to make energy.  Ensure the mitochondrial cells have the correct biochemistry to make energy.
  2. Identify the underlying cause and use natural treatment for the best results.   This may include diet improvements, lifestyle changes and supportive supplements to suit your individual needs.
